AMANAVIKRANA FOUNDATION
VOCATIONAL TRAINING
PROJECT #1
Our vocational training programs focus on equipping prisoners and juveniles with practical skills that enhance their employability. We offer a variety of courses, including carpentry, tailoring, mining, masonry, welding, electrical work, and more. These programs are designed to prepare individuals for the job market and provide them with the confidence and capabilities to secure stable employment upon release based on merit. They are primarily directed to central jail inmates, however we have initiated introductory programs at sub-jails for convicts under trial.
PROJECTS
INCENTIVE
The Amanavikrana Foundation is driven by the belief that every individual deserves a second chance to rebuild their lives with dignity. By providing comprehensive support and opportunities for rehabilitation, we aim to reduce recidivism rates and foster a more inclusive society. Our initiatives are designed to address the key challenges faced by former convicts and juveniles, offering them the tools and resources needed to successfully reintegrate into their communities.
There is excessive controversy around supporting these group of individuals and reluctance to work for this cause. However, we will continue to preach the ideal that a conviction does not and should not brand an individual as a “criminal” for the remainder of their lives. We understand there are outliers and there are individuals that may do more harm than good. This is why we work on a case-by-case basis and ensure appropriate mental health support is provided prior to release and prior to applications for jobs/internships and housing.
We take pride in our work despite the backlash and controversy constantly subjected to our case.
HOUSING VIA POLICY
PROJECT #2
Securing stable housing is an essential step in the reintegration process. We advocate for policy changes to improve housing opportunities for released prisoners, provide direct assistance in finding suitable accommodation, reducing discrimination with landlords, and expanding the scope of provisions to provide pathways for affordable housing in the long-run. By ensuring that individuals have a safe and stable place to live, we help them build a solid foundation for their new lives.
CONNECTIONS WITH CORPORATIONS
PROJECT #3
We collaborate with a network of corporations to create job and internship opportunities for former convicts. By promoting fair hiring practices and reducing discrimination, we aim to provide these individuals with a genuine chance to re-enter the workforce. Our partnerships ensure that employers recognize the value of giving second chances and the potential of these individuals to contribute positively to their organizations.
We are currently in collaboration with SVEC Constructions Ltd, Surnath Real Estate Private Limited, Bathula Builders and Developers Pvt. Ltd, and Venkateswara Aggregates Mining Pvt. Ltd.
POLICY WORK
PROJECT #4
Advocating for systemic change is a cornerstone of our mission. Our policy initiatives aim to address the root causes of recidivism and promote a more just and equitable society.
